Crescent & Lytle Lakes | Sat | 02/26/22 | 01:30pm - 04:00pm
Squeezed between coastal foothills and the rumbling Pacific Ocean are the serene waters of Lake Lytle. Travelers on Highway 101 often slow to gaze wantingly when its glass clam surface mirrors the nearby forested foothills.
Glide over and around cattails, lily pads and other aquatic plants while learning about a non-indigenous aquatic weed (milfoil weed) which invaded Lake Lytle about forty years ago. Hear about efforts to the protect this habitat for the beaver, lesser scaup, red-tailed hawks, bufflehead and other wildlife that visit the lake.
Encounter a hidden channel to a connecting Cresent Lake which remains unseen by most and then enjoy the accommodations Rockaway City has to offer. Great for family outings, new and novice paddlers.
